1955 Chevy Nomad

I bought this 1955 Nomad from a gentlemen named Don. He lived a block away from me, bought this Nomad and drove it from 1964 to 1979 and sat in his garage until I bought it in 1998. Don put over a hundred thousand plus miles on it and decided to take it apart and repaint the car and lost interest after the paint job turned out bad.  So the car sat for 20 years in a garage with boxes and stuff on it. The nomad was complete with all the parts bagged and tagged which was nice. This cars was originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico. It then changed owners 2 times before I bought it. The car had only a few small rust spots in the rear by the inner wheel well panels and 3 floor braces had some rust. I replaced all cancer on the car. Putting this car back together was tricky not having taken it apart myself. It was like putting a big jigsaw puzzle together. I had bought complete factory assembly manuals to figure how to put everything back on the car. My wife helped me on 75% of the assembly. The day I started working on the car I started tearing the car even farther apart by doing a complete body off restoration and rebuilding the Small Block 327. I rebuilt the engine to the specs of a 1967 SS Nova L-79 327/350 HP. engine, then made a huge list of everything on the car that could be replaced or up graded. I installed a 700-R4 trans, factory 1955 positraction with 3:70's, power disk brakes and power steering. I have been offered $40,000 for this Nomad and with no hesitation turned the offer down. I have always wanted a Nomad since I can remember.

As of now I have installed a Vintage Air system that was pretty easy to install, A new USA-1 stereo with Infinity 6X9 speakers that sounds great, a new polished performer duel plane intake and 650 Holley carburetor, Large aluminum radiator with dual 11" Spal fans. She runs real cool now no matter where I go. I took the time to polish out my American racing torque thrust D-mags. It was a lot of work but worth the results. I also added a B&M Quick silver shifter,
